Metropolitan Washington, DC — Addis Communications welcomes University of Maryland rising junior Kiara McMahon as its summer 2019 intern. McMahon is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication on the Public Relations track with a minor in Spanish. She will be responsible for producing social media content, writing several weekly news digests, and conducting research.
“What captivated me most about Kiara was her energy and initiative as well as her strong social media skills,” says Karen Addis, APR, president and CEO of Addis Communications.
“I am so excited to join the Addis Communications team,” says McMahon. “I’m looking forward to working for and learning from such an accomplished woman-owned business owner. This internship will help me further perfect my writing and social media skills.”
McMahon has worked as a social media coordinator for best-selling author, illustrator, and columnist Richie Frieman, where she created and monitored social media content on multiple platforms to increase Frieman’s brand awareness. She also worked with a range of schools in the Washington Metropolitan area to coordinate public relations events for Frieman.
McMahon currently serves as vice president of her sorority, Alpha Phi, where she develops marketing plans and analyzes promotional initiatives. She also plays an active role in recruitment events and increased Alpha Phi’s Instagram following to 2,000.
